So you've been dreaming about waking up with perfect brows every morning — no pencil, no pomade, no spending 10 minutes in the mirror trying to make them match. I hear you, and I want nothing more than to make that dream a reality for you. But before we book your appointment, there's an important conversation we need to have: making sure you're a good candidate for the procedure.

This isn't meant to discourage anyone, most people are great candidates! But permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattoo, and your health and skin condition play a big role in how well the procedure goes and how beautifully the results heal. Here's everything you need to know.
Who Is a Great Candidate?
If you're in general good health with no major medical conditions or skin concerns in the brow area, chances are you're ready to go. The best candidates are people who want to enhance their natural brows, simplify their morning routine, or restore fullness they may have lost over time. Whether you have sparse brows, uneven growth, or just want a little more definition, permanent makeup can be genuinely life-changing.
What Might Make You Ineligible (For Now)
There are some medical conditions and circumstances that mean we'll need to wait or get clearance before moving forward. Please let me know before booking if any of the following apply to you:
Pregnant or nursing
Currently undergoing cancer treatment (chemo or radiation)
Immunocompromised
Prone to keloids (raised scarring)
On Accutane — you'll need to wait at least one full year after discontinuing this medication before we can proceed
On blood thinners — whether prescription medications or supplements. Supplements need to be stopped few days before procedure. If on blood thinner prescriptions, we'll need clearance from your doctor. I can provide a letter request for your doctor to approve 3-4 days for pausing meds.
Diabetic — totally workable, as long as your diabetes is under controlled. Otherwise, we'll need clearance from your doctor.
Severe acne in the brow area
None of these are meant to be discouraging some just require a little extra step (like a doctor's note), and others simply mean we wait until the timing is right for your body.
Skincare Products to Pause Before Your Appointment
This one surprises a lot of people! Certain skincare ingredients can affect how your skin accepts and holds pigment, so I ask that you stop using the following products directly on or near your brows at least 2 to 3 weeks before your procedure:
Retinol or Retin-A
Glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or any other acids
Hyaluronic acid
Benzoyl peroxide
These are all wonderful ingredients for your skin in general, just not right before a permanent makeup appointment. A short pause goes a long way toward making sure your results heal beautifully.
A Few Other Things to Keep in Mind
Beyond skincare products, there are a few other situations that mean we should reschedule:
Brow tints within the last 2 weeks — the dye can interfere with how we assess your natural brow color and shape
Recent sunburn on or near the brow area — sunburned skin is compromised skin, and we want a healthy canvas to work with
Lasers or chemical peels within the last 30 days — these treatments sensitize the skin and we need to give it time to fully recover first. If directly done on the the areas to be tattooed, then longer time will be needed.
Not Sure If You Qualify?
That's what I'm here for! If you're unsure about any of the above, please don't hesitate to reach out before booking. I'd much rather answer your questions upfront than have either of us disappointed on appointment day. Your safety and your results are always my top priority.
When the timing is right and we've confirmed you're a great candidate, I promise the experience and those brows will be so worth the wait. 💕
